LANCASTER – The social issues women are dealing with in the community will be discussed at Ohio University-Lancaster, Pickerington’s Celebrate Women 2014. The event will be held on Friday.

Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Director Orman Hall will be on a panel called “Standing Up to Addiction: The Effects on Women and Families.”

The Recovery Center CEO Trish Farrar and the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers Associate Director Lori Criss also will be on the panel with Hall.

“It’s important to talk about issues facing women in today’s society and discuss as a group how we can work to make those situations better,” said Dr. Pam Kaylor, coordinator for the event.

“Celebrate Women gives women in our community a chance to come together and work on solutions.”

Social issues will be the focus of another panel called “Standing Up Against Bullying in Our Workplace and Schools.” Panelists will focus on the presence of bullying in a variety of contexts – school, workplace, and online. Strategies for recognizing signs of bullying as well as suggestions for managing these conflicts will be presented.

Licensed Independent Social Worker Michael Ashton, Recovery Center Chief Operation Officer Traci Mason, OU-L Student Rhonda Palfrey-Schooley, and Ohio University Internal Consultant Teri Combs will serve on the panel.
