LOGAN — For those who crave burritos but need lunch on the go, there’s a Burrito Buggy near you.

Anyone who’s spent time in Athens, perhaps as an Ohio University student, is familiar with the Burrito Buggy that’s been doing business there since 1984. If you’ve never heard of this operation, think of a lunch truck or festival wagon. Now, there’s one in Logan.

Marla and Jimmy Rutter and their daughter, Bethany, took over the Burrito Buggy in 2010, continuing to operate near OU campus.

On Thursday, they opened another buggy near Rutter Insurance (which Marla and Jimmy also own) at the corner of West Front Street and Short Avenue. Bethany and a new employee are operating the Logan location.

Marla remarked that while there are two Mexican restaurants in Logan, there isn’t a fast food version. So, she recognized an opportunity. “We had compliments at the Washboard Festival and people asked if we’d come back [with the Burrito Buggy],” said Marla of becoming aware there was a customer base here.

In addition to burritos, tacos, nachos and taco salads, customers can find many vegetarian offerings such as black bean taco salad. The Burrito Buggy also offers chips, salsa and homemade guacamole. Lunches start at $4.75.

The buggy is open for lunch only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The original buggy remains in Athens and is open for extended hours. For more information, visit them on Facebook (Burrito Buggy).
