A Jackson County judge and a Portsmouth attorney are vying in this November's election for a seat on the 4th District Court of Appeals.

Marie Hoover, the Democratic candidate, is an attorney with the Hoover Law Group. The Republican candidate is Leonard Holzapfel, judge of Jackson County Common Pleas. Each of the candidates won a primary election race to be their party's nominee for the judgeship being vacated by Roger Kline, who has served as a 4th District judge since 1995 but is not seeking re-election.
