NELSONVILLE — Traffic on U.S. 33 on Saturday was briefly diverted through the parking lot of the Wayne National Forest Headquarters after an accident involving two motorcycles. Three people were injured. One was unresponsive at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
On Saturday around 9:30 a.m., both drivers were traveling westbound on U.S. 33 with a group of motorcycles, stated the media release. A motorcycle in the front of the pack began to slow when attempting to turn right.
June Rae Murray, 51, of Virginia Beach, Va., was unable to stop and struck Raymond Flynn, 48, and his passenger Erika Flynn, 48, from the rear while traveling about 45 miles per hour.
All three were ejected. Both drivers were not wearing helmets and suffered head injuries. Murray was unresponsive at the scene. Flynn was wearing a helmet but was still injured.
The riders were sent to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, where they were later transported by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Raymond and Erika Flynn, of Easton, Md., are listed as having incapacitating injuries. Murray is in critical condition. Charges against the drivers are pending.
