Logan Public Transit

LOGAN — Logan Public Transit (LPT), a part of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, provides transportation options for the individuals within the 100 square mile service area around Logan, and in the north central areas of Hocking County. This provides service to more than half of the Hocking County population.

LPT is a grantee of the City of Logan and receives additional financial support from the Federal Transit Administration and the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Transit.

Trips are open to the general public and are not restricted to any group of individuals or specific destinations within the service area.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reduced fares are provided for individuals 65 and older, individuals with diagnosed disabilities and veterans.

LPT provides services through a number of programs that enhance options for certain groups. For those over 60, LPT provides trips under Title III to allow people to stay in their own home instead of care facilities. This is provided under the Older American’s Act through Buckeye Hills Regional Council. LPT participates in the waiver program for individuals with disabilities and coordinate rides with the Hocking County Department of Developmental Disabilities.

In cooperation with the South Central Job & Family Services, LPT provides trips for transportation eligible Medicaid recipients. Medical trips can be in the area or to major medical centers, including Columbus, Lancaster or Athens.

Logan Public Transit works in cooperation with many agencies and businesses to get people to work, shopping and meeting medical needs. These include the Scenic Hills Senior Center, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities and The Southeastern Ohio Center for Independent Living. Also, LPT is a feeder to the GoBus System that provides trips to Columbus and Cincinnati.

LPT provides curb-to-curb services with 10 accessible vehicles, designed to accommodate mobility devices. Drivers are trained in passenger assistance and wheelchair securement. When requested, door-to-door service is available.

LPT receives additional support through private donations, The Logan Holl Foundation, Alice Montgomery Real Estate and the Kroger Rewards Program.
