NEW LEXINGTON — Susan Boyle and her fall festival sub-committee have been hard at work since March to prepare for the Fall Festival this coming Saturday.
About 10 years ago, the annual Autumn in the Hills festival fizzled out and Boyle is trying to revive the fall family fun that it created.
Boyle is a part of the New Lexington Parks and Recreation Committee on Village Council and decided to come up with the Fall Festival Sub-Committee, which makes up a total of four people.
Last year Boyle hosted the festival in the Arethusa Springs Park but said many people began to leave when the Ohio State football game began. With the festival hosted on Main Street this year, Boyle is hoping more people will show since it’s back in the original location.
“The fire department — they’re having chili and cornbread with tables set up where people can eat, there’ll be a TV in the firehouse, they can watch the game so that’ll help get some of the fellas there,” says Boyle.
Boyle also mentioned that the Elks Lodge will be hosting a beer garden by the stage so people can watch the entertainment while they have a drink.
At least 20 vendors will be set up along Main Street to showcase their artwork and sell their products. Vendors such as LuLaRoe, Paparazzi Jewelry, candles and Scentsy will be there along with seven food vendors.
The kids section will be at the opposite end of the stage where they can purchase a wristband for $2 that allows them to do the bounce house, inflatable ball toss and an obstacle course. Other activities for children include pumpkin decorating, pumpkin ring toss and a lawn bowling game.
