The Southern Hillbillies 4-H club held their fifth meeting on July 17 at Freedom Memorial Church. Five members and six cloverbuds were presnt. President Javen Gill called the meeting to order. Brock Nihiser led the American pledge and Gracie Daubenmire led the 4-H pledge. Secretary, Adriana Daubenmire called roll and Brock Nihiser gave the treasurer’s report. Javen Gill gave a health and safety report on fire safety. Brock Nihiser gave a project demonstration on market rabbits. Cloverbuds did a fitness kit from the extension office. Old business discussed was the success of the community service project on June 26 at Logan Healthcare. Members spent four hours pulling weeds, planting flowers, adding bird feeders and beautifying the center. Residents and staff were so grateful. A huge thank you to Wal-Mart, Savings Hardware and multiple community members for their donations. This wouldn’t have been possible without their donations! Members were reminded of the pool party on July 19; pizza and snacks will be provided. New business discussed was the club t-shirt design. Advisors gave some ideas and let the members anonymously vote on their favorite design. The plan is to hand out shirts at the next club meeting. Members were reminded of the Aug. 16 rabbit tag in. They were also reminded to brainstorm about the fair booth theme and reminded that the group will be working in the 4-H food booth the Friday evening of the fair from 6-10 p.m. Meeting was adjourned by Javen Gill and Brock Nihiser seconded.
