LOGAN — Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is accepting applications for the David V. Stivison Memorial Scholarship. These funds are available to local high school seniors from income-eligible families residing in Hocking, Athens, and Perry counties.
“HAPCAP believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education. No one should have to sacrifice that opportunity simply because they can’t afford the cost,” stated Kelly Hatas, Executive Director of HAPCAP.
Students must reside in the area, meet the income-eligibility guidelines, have obtained or will obtain a high school diploma or GED, and have been accepted at an accredited two or four year institution. Non-traditional students, such as adult learners, may also apply.
To apply, download the David V. Stivison Scholarship application at www.hapcap.org/collegescholarships. Completed applications can be mailed to Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, c/o David V. Stivison Scholarship, 3 Cardaras Drive, P.O. Box 220, Glouster, Ohio 45732.
The David V. Stivison Appalachian Scholarship Fund is named for a former employee who was a native of Hocking County. He died of cancer before he could complete his dream of helping Appalachian youth go to college.
Since 1999, HAPCAP has awarded 65 scholarships. Donations to the fund can be made online at www.hapcap.org/collegescholarships
