PICKERINGTON – Logan High School instrumentalists participated in the District XV Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Pickerington North High School. Over 1,000 students across central Ohio participated in this annual event at this location. Students were rated as superior, excellent, good, fair, or poor. Logan instrumentalists compiled 15 superior, eight excellent, and two good ratings.
Solo and Ensemble participation is voluntary and requires group practice outside the regular school day. This year, Logan High School had 12 ensembles and 13 soloists entered. Several students performed in two or three groups as well as taking a solo. A few students even played more than one instrument at the contest.
Soloists receiving superior ratings were Ian Shields, flute and piccolo; Emily Chaffin, French horn; Mason White, French horn; Drew Beiter, snare drum; and Arabella Gordon, trumpet;
Soloists receiving excellent Ratings were Paige Magdich, trumpet; Bailey Lape, alto saxophone; Amber Morgan, bari saxophone; Addison Gray, flute; and Rozalin White, flute and piccolo.
Soloist receiving a good rating was Alleana Brown, tuba.
