NEW PLYMOUTH — Trainers, instructors, and coaches all over the United States will come together for the second annual National Train a Teacher Day (NTATD) on Saturday, July 20.

Industry-certified instructors are offering their training services free of charge to teachers, school administrators, school staff, scout leaders and others charged with the safety and education of our children.

The goal is to provide insight, knowledge, and skills to empower them to take action in the face of a critical incident thus saving lives.

Training opportunities vary across the nation and may cover a host of areas from first aid, firearms safety, concealed carry, unarmed defense, active shooter response or defensive tactics. For a complete list of training offerings, visit

Serving southeastern Ohio is Judi Phelps, USCCA Certified Training Counselor and Instructor with On Guard Defense, who will be offering USCCA’s Countering the Mass Shooter Threat seminar from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at her training center located at 66211 Bethel Road, New Plymouth.
