Barred owl

Barred owls frequent Burr Oak State Park, becoming most active after dark.

GLOUSTER — "Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you-all?"

Join Sunday Creek Watershed Group as they partner with Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) State Park’s naturalist, Pat Quackenbush and Burr Oak Lodge for an exciting wintry Owl Prowl.

The Owl Prowl will be held at Burr Oak Lodge, 10660 Burr Oak Lodge Road, Glouster, on Thursday, Feb. 23. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the lodge with a short presentation and the opportunity to interact with live owls. An owl craft activity will also be available.

Once it’s dark, attendees will be invited to head outside for a short hike to call owls. Children and adults alike can learn more about owls including their behavior and interesting adaptations by attending this free event.

Please dress for the weather, bring a flashlight or headlamp if you desire, and remember it’s important to be quiet so we don’t scare the owls away. This event is family friendly. Burr Oak Lodge will also offer a special meal of soup beans and cornbread available for purchase before the event. Complimentary hot chocolate will be served. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity and we look forward to seeing you there!
