LOGAN — On Tuesday Sept. 24, the Rushcreek River Rats held its 11th meeting of the year. There were 12 members and no guests present. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Matthew Matheny, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Ava Wesselhoeft. Attendance was taken by Kya Hoy and the format used was favorite candy bar.

At the start of the meeting, the advisors distributed the free t-shirts that Merchants National Bank was generously giving out. After that, members filled out our honor member forms. Club members also gave a special thank you to Jillyan Adams for designing the 4-H booth. It received second place!

Next, members congratulated those who placed with their animals at the fair. For market rabbits: Chancie Stewart earned first and fifth place; Adriana Stewart received first and fourth place; Kya Hoy earned first, fifth, and grand champion lightweight rabbit.

For pet rabbit: Dreena Wiseman earned first place. In poultry: Dreena Wiseman received third place in showmanship senior. For market hogs: Avery Thompson earned second and third place, and Isabelle Stowe received third place.

In market goats: Isaac Kienzle earned first place, and fourth place in showmanship. Makenzie Munsee received third place, and third place in showmanship. Destiny Kienzle earned fourth place, and first place in showmanship. Dreena Wiseman received fourth place. For breeding goats: Destiny Kienzle earned third place, and for outstanding livestock exhibitor received third.

After congratulating those members, Isaac Kienzle gave a demonstration on electricity, then on rockets. Destiny Kienzle gave a demonstration on cooking. Finally, Avery Thompson and Isabelle Stowe gave a demonstration on pigs.

To conclude the meeting, Adriana Stewart gave a health report on Battens Disease. The Club recently held a fundraiser to raise money for Kyndel Roop who was sadly diagnosed with the disease. The money raised was presented to the family to help with medical expenses.

Then, as a safety report, members went around the room and said ways to stay safe in a parking lot. Finally, Destiny Kienzle led the group in a game of fruit basket.

The next meeting will be a cookout at our advisors’, Larry and Carolyn Kienzle, house on Oct. 13 at 5 p.m.
