The Diamond Brothers

The Diamond Brothers

LOGAN — This Friday’s Music in the Park concert will feature 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s rock and roll music. Frankie Diamond, founder of the group in 1983, advises that the group has a 6,000 song repertoire but doubted that it would play all 6,000 songs this week.

The band is new to Worthington Park, having performed all over the Midwest and in Florida, New York, and California, including appearing at most all clubs within a 50 mile radius of Columbus.

The four piece combo features Charlie Smith of Newark on saxaphone; Cliff Diamond of Columbus on drums; Frankie Diamond of Columbus on guitar; and a Diamond “Sister,” Larena Diamond, female vocalist.

While the group spans 36 years, every current band member has been on board 20 years or more.

Concerts run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Concert goers should plan to bring lawn chairs or blankets as park seating is limited. Concerts will generally occur rain or shine except in the event of extreme weather.

Volunteers from the Hocking Hills Inspire Shelter group will once again offer sandwiches, sides, snacks and desserts by donation; participants can bring their own picnics. Alcohol is not permitted in the city park nor is smoking, except on the perimeter of the park.

The Scenic Hills Senior Center, 187 S. Spring Street, will hold a fish fry and ice cream social preceding the concert at 4 p.m.

The free concerts are brought to the community by the generosity of sponsors such as businesses, civic organizations, merchants, individuals and others, in addition to donations from those attending the concerts. All the donations are greatly valued and enable this popular program to keep going from year to year!
