LOGAN — Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation is hosting a Bids & Brews Benefit on Friday, Aug. 9, at The Hangar in Logan.
“There’s a refreshing energy to the annual charity benefit this year with the relocation to The Hangar, the addition of Shucking Bubba Deluxe band, food trucks, beer garden, and so much more,” Latricia Johnston, HVCH Chief Public Relations Officer, said. “And the line-up of auction items always amazes me, as local and distant businesses/individuals work with us so generously to provide new and enhanced items each year.”
For 2019, approximately 70 items will be available for bidders to choose from including Jersey Boys tickets, Gatlinburg and Siesta Key, Florida, getaways, a tiny house stay with beautiful lake view, and a plethora of other sports and entertainment activities.
“If you’re into fishing, dinner theaters, working around the yard, or simply sitting down and relaxing while someone else cleans your home, just be the highest bidder that evening and you can leave the winner of one of those packages,” Johnston said.
Also, for the first time this year, a mystery box will be up for bid.
The event is split into silent and live auctions and allows everyone to participate. The silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and all tables will close at 8 p.m., with the exception of another new addition this year — the super silent auction, which will remain open until 9:30 p.m.
The live auction will begin at 8:15 p.m. with licensed auctioneer Chris Collins. Collins is a graduate of Missouri Auction School, a member of the Ohio Auctioneers Association, Certified Appraisers Guild of America, National Association of Realtors, Ohio Association of Realtors and Athens County MLS.
“To give our guests an opportunity to make an entire evening out of the benefit, also new for 2019 is a post-auction concert with Shucking Bubba Deluxe beginning at 9:30 p.m. Playing only the best cover songs ranging from old-school hip-hop to funk and alternative rock, they are sure to make this a spectacular evening for all who join us,” Johnston said.
“The spacious and modern Hangar is one of the most picturesque landscapes Hocking County has to offer. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see this venue, we encourage you to come to this free event! We are grateful to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Shaw for their generous donation and use of their facility for our Bids & Brews Benefit,” she added.
Food trucks Bob’s Backyard BBQ of Lancaster and Chris’ Snack Shack of Lewis Center will be open throughout the event, as well as the beer garden for a variety of beverages.
The Foundation also is conducting two exciting raffles that will be drawn during the Bids & Brews Benefit – one for a vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida, and the other for a Ruger .450 rifle.
The Panama City Beach trip and $1,000 traveling cash was generously donated by the HVCH Board of Trustees. Tickets are $20 each and are available at www.hvch.org and the night of the event. The winner does not need to be present.
The Ruger .450 Bushmaster American Rifle Ranch was donated by Downs Bait & Guns. Tickets are $20 and a limited number of 50 will be sold during the Bids & Brews Benefit only. The winner for this drawing does need to be present at the event to win.
“The Foundation has been there to help support our hospital for the past 39 years, and this event is just one of the many ways others can help with that mission,” Stacey Gabriel, HVCH President and CEO, said. “We are excited for the changes and the opportunity to bring great people together for a great cause.”
