LOGAN — Registration opens July 15 for the 2019-2020 season of the Hocking County Children’s Chorus. The HCCC is open to all children in Hocking County in grades two through 12. This includes children in public schools, private schools, the digital academy, and those who are homeschooled. The chorus is open to children of all abilities.

The children in the chorus have a lot of fun together while they develop their talents in music, performance, and theater. A United Way Agency, the HCCC performs at various community events throughout the year, and holds an annual Christmas concert. Each spring, the HCCC presents a musical. This past year, they presented “Annie Jr” to a crowd of almost 1,000 people!

“This is a special year for us,” remarked Therese Karnes, HCCC Executive Director. “This marks our 40th year! We have lots of special events planned to celebrate this exciting time. Our musical theater production this year will be the Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” When I announced that to the choristers at our end of the year party, they were literally shouting and jumping for joy!”

The calendar is set for a terrific year — highlights include the annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church; musical “Frozen Jr.” on Feb. 1 and 2 at the Logan High School Theatre; and in April, the children will present an anniversary concert at The Hangar, and travel out of town to perform with the Tuscarawas Symphony Orchestra.

Rehearsals are held on Monday and Thursday evenings at the HCCC music room in Downtown Logan. On Mondays, the Cherub Choir (grades 2 and 3) practices from 5:15 – 6, and the Junior Choir (grades 4 and 5) rehearse from 6:15 – 7. The Senior Choristers (grades 6 and up) rehearse on Thursdays from 5:15 – 6.

Anyone who wishes to play Choirchimes will rehearse once a month on Thursday 6:15 – 7. Rehearsals begin and Monday, Aug. 26 for the Cherub and Junior Choirs, and Thursday, Aug. 29 for the Seniors.

Tuition for the year is $100 for the first child, $90 for the second child of the same family, and $80 each for additional siblings. This one-time fee includes all uniforms, t-shirts, music, costumes and supplies for the year. Please note tuition is due at the time of registration.

Registration forms are available at various locations around town (The Bowen House, FroYo, Logan-Hocking County District Library, Pizza Crossing, etc.). Representatives from the HCCC will be at all school open houses as well, with registration brochures available.
