LOGAN – The Hocking County Board of Commissioners heard its monthly update from Stantec Thursday morning.
Gary Silcott Jr., water principal at Stantec, informed the board on the status of several ongoing projects in Hocking County.
Work in Murray City is still ongoing, Silcott said. Work in Carbon Hill is almost complete, waiting on a portable generator, and coming in at about $100,000-$150,000 under budget, Silcott said.
Work for the Union Furnace sanitary sewer project is almost finished as well, Silcott said. The construction is done, however, there are a couple more items that need to be completed, such as a manhole that is overflowing with groundwater.
Work on the Enterprise state Route 664 Project, too, is nearing completion; however, it is waiting on a couple of easements for grinder pumps, Silcott said.
The Rockbridge sanitary sewer improvements project is also being closed out as construction there is done, Silcott said. He also gave updates regarding the Hocking Valley Scenic Trail.
“Not much activity has happened on that since COVID hit,” Silcott said. “We haven’t really had any of the trail meetings in the last year. We did get some plans — what we call ‘phase one plans’ — done and submitted them to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).”
Silcott said the trail is also applying for funding from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). If the trail receives funding, a portion will be built from Well Road to state Route 595 just to start, Silcott said.
The board also heard from a representative of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, or HAPCAP, regarding a bid opening for the Hocking County Critical Infrastructure City of Logan Walnut Street Improvement Project. Four entities have put in bids for the project: G&M Construction, D.V. Weber, Shelly and Sands and Right-Way Construction.
The commissioners also moved their Thursday, April 1 meeting to Wednesday, March 31, 9:30 a.m.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday, March 23 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting is open to the public with limited capacity.
