LOGAN – Logan Police as of Wednesday afternoon were still investigating a crash that took place Saturday on state Route 664 in Logan, in which the driver of a minivan was killed.
The police department reported that around noon, the van apparently sped through the roundabout at 664 and U.S. 33, doing an estimated 60 mph. It then became airborne – possibly after hitting a curb – and traveled about 115 feet through the air, before landing in a grassy area and flipping over onto its driver’s side.
The man driving the van – its only occupant – was pronounced dead at the scene. Pending investigation, LPD is not releasing his name, age or other details. The agency did say that a medical problem is suspected to have played a role in the accident. A story in The Scioto Post reported that witnesses said the vehicle was fitted for handicapped use, and that the van caught on fire after crashing.
