LOGAN – A 27-year-old Logan man has been indicted by a Hocking County grand jury on four counts of rape and one count of aggravated burglary. According to the indictment against Tyler J. Craig, two of the alleged rapes involved a 12-year-old victim and took place in early 2015; one took place in late 2018, and one occurred in April of this year.
Hocking County Prosecutor Ryan Black said Friday that the alleged victim is the same individual in each of the four rape offenses. “This was an ongoing situation with multiple victimizations of the same individual,” he said.
Black would not discuss any further details, such as Craig’s relationship to the alleged victim, or the victim’s current age – which, based on the dates of the offenses, would appear to be around 18. The prosecutor said the alleged offenses came to the attention of authorities in April and were investigated by the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office.
The indictment redacts the identity of the alleged victim. It indicates that the alleged burglary offense was a break-in of a residence in April 2021, committed for the purpose of carrying out the most recent sexual assault.
The website of the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail indicates that Craig was booked into the jail by the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office on April 28, and is being held there in lieu of a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
All the charges against Craig are first-degree felonies.
