The Logan-Hocking junior varsity girls basketball team improved its record to 2-0 Saturday, handily defeating Groveport-Madison by a score of 48-28.
The Lady Chieftains took a two-point lead, 11-9, in the first quarter of the game. This was due mostly to the shooting of Mollie Landis, who sank four two-pointers to account for eight of Logan’s 11 points.
From there Logan just kept widening its lead over the Cruisers in every succeeding period. The score was 23-18 at the half; and in the third quarter the Lady Chiefains upped it to 33-27.
The final period was a blowout, with Logan putting up 15 points and Groveport answering with only a single foul shot to make the final point differential 20.
Landis led the way in scoring for Logan, putting up seven two-pointers, one three, and sinking one of her two free throws for a total of 18 points.
Following close behind her was Abbi Smith, whose 13 points came from five two-pointers and one three.
Alivia Magdich added four; Abbie Tier six; Emma McKinney three; and Caidence Goldsberry four.
No Cruiser got into double digits for the game; top scorer TT Flowers put up four buckets for eight points, followed by Milani Epps with seven on the strength of a three and two twos.
