BREMEN — A busy first week came to an end for the Logan Lady Chiefs’ golf team at Friday’s Fairfield Union Invitational.
Akron Hoban (359) won the five-team tournament, contested at Pumpkin Vine Golf Course, with runner-up Warren (365) also finishing ahead of third-place Logan (390).
Miami Trace (416) and Fairfield Union (433) rounded out the event.
The Lady Chiefs wound up the first week of their season with a 17-4 record, finishing behind Warren in all three of their completed events.
The Logan girls played 54 tournament holes in roughly 80 hours between Tuesday and Friday after having most of a nine-hole event halted due to weather on Monday.
Sophomore Ashley Aldridge carded an 18-hole score of 94 to finish fifth individually and junior Lauren Johnson’s 95 tied for sixth.
“We keep getting better each match,” praised Logan coach Rich Aldridge. “This was a good finish to long week.”
Juniors Tessa Luicart and Grace Johnson came through with career-best rounds of 97 and 104, respectively, and senior Dreena Wiseman added 109. Wiseman also had a career-best score (101) earlier in the week at Wednesday’s Waterford Invitational.
The Lady Chiefs are slated to play in three road invitationals next week as they conclude play prior to the start of the school year.
They play Monday at the Westfall Invitational (Crown Hill Golf Club), Wednesday at the Tri-Valley Invitational (EagleSticks Golf Club) and Friday at the Watkins Memorial Invitational (Cumberland Trail Golf Club).
