LOGAN – On Tuesday the Logan girls’ soccer team lost to Marietta at home, 4-3.
Logan scored two goals in the first half at 4 minutes into play and with 16:25 remaining. Danika Mahaffey scored on a through ball attack with the assist from right side from an attacking Brooklin Harris dribble, resulting in a one-on-one with the goalie and Dani placing it away in the left side net.
Logan’s second goal was scored by Alivia Magdich with a fast one-time shot on the 18 from Brooklin Harris centering it up after beating several players on the dribble. In th first half the Lady Chiefs dominated the play on the field with many outstanding attacks.
In the second half, Logan score quickly again in the first 6 minutes with an out side shot over the keeper with another assist by Brooklin Harris. At that point the game took a turn towards the physical side by Marietta.
There were many fouls called and the Marietta team began to push up and play on the Lady Chiefs.
Marietta got their first goal at the 30-minute mark on a power outside shot and repeated goals at 28 minutes and 23 minutes, one on a corner kick to bulldoze the ball in goal and the other from a cross to the far post followed by a one-time shot.
At that point the game remained tied with Marietta pushing the physicality of play to the limit and at some point a Marietta coach received a yellow card warning. Logan fans also responded with shouts from the stands.
Marietta scored on another corner kick header with only 6:43 left on the clock. Despite some good last minute attacks the Lady Chiefs had to settle for a 4–3 loss in which they dominated the play most of the game.
