The Logan-Hocking Junior High 8th-grade girls basketball team beat General Sherman Junior High in Lancaster by a score of 40-16 in an away game Jan. 4, while Logan’s 7th graders fell to the Generals by a score of 42-33.
In the 8th-grade victory Kinsey Myers led the way for Logan in scoring, putting up 17 points, while adding one assist, four rebounds and three steals.
Josie Sigler scored seven points with five assists, one rebound and one steal. Scoring six points apiece were MacKenzie Daubenmire and Kaylee Starkey; scoring two apiece were Sophie Swope and Maria Starner.
In the 7th-grade game Logan’s top scorers were Ava Nihiser with 14 points and Ryann Landis with 11. Kalie Straus scored five points, with two blocked shots and four steals, and Claire Warren scored three.
The 7th and 8th graders went on to both notch victories Thursday night in their home opening games against Lakewood. The 7th graders prevailed by a score of 18-14, while the 8th graders won 23-16.
Landis, Nihiser and Warren between them accounted for all Logan’s scoring in the 7th grade game, putting up eight, six and four points respectively. Warren took four rebounds and three steals, and Straus had three rebounds, as well as a blocked shot and four steals.
In the 8th grade game scoring was more distributed for Logan, with Swope scoring six, Daubenmire five, Starner and Myers four each, Sigler three and Starkey one.
Daubenmire, Sigler, Starner and Myers together accounted for 13 rebounds, while Starner had three steals.
