LOGAN — Eight different girls scored as the Logan seventh-grade basketball team opened its season with a resounding 50-12 victory over visiting Lancaster General Sherman Tuesday evening in the Logan-Hocking Middle School gym.

It was a dominant performance by the Logan girls, who held Sherman off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter and led 42-0 through three periods.

Danika Mahaffey and Makenzie Daubenmire led the winners with 14 and 13 points, respectively, with Sophie Swope netting eight, Josie Sigler six, Kinsey Myers four, Kaylee Starkey three and Maria Starner and Alandria Lewis two apiece.

The Logan girls dished out 13 assists, with Mahaffey handing out five, Myers three and Sigler and Starner two apiece. Mahaffey had eight steals and Myers added five while Daubenmire grabbed four rebounds.
