Logan-Hocking School District has released guidelines for winter sports as part of its athletic pandemic plan, including the protocol to be followed if a spectator attending a sporting event refuses to wear a mask.

The district has indicated it will follow guidelines and recommendations from the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the governor and the Ohio Health Department, and that its plan “focuses on the safety of students/athletes, coaches, fans, staff, public” and others.

The guidelines

Masks are mandated for all spectators, workers, athletes, students and coaches at all times unless the student/athlete is actively engaged in the contest or activity. For persons with a health condition that exempts them from wearing a mask, a face shield is required. No exceptions.

The event director/administrator will monitor the stands and ask spectators to put their mask on if not in compliance. If a spectator refuses to put their mask on, the event director/ administrator will stop the contest and ask the spectator to leave the facility. If the spectator refuses to leave the facility the contest will remain stopped and the officer on site will get involved. The contest will remain stopped until the spectator leaves the facility. Refusal to leave the facility will result in cancellation of the contest.

Social distancing of six feet will be maintained at all times. Bleachers are clearly marked for social distancing. Please do not sit in the rows marked closed or on the X’s.
