LOGAN — Back-to-back wins over Athens and Alexander hiked the Logan seventh-grade boys basketball team's record to 5-8.
The young Chiefs downed visiting Alexander 38-23 Monday evening in the Logan-Hocking Middle School gym, where they overcame a 9-5 first-quarter deficit to post leads of 16-12 at halftime and 27-15 after three quarters.
Kohen Maynard's 13 points powered Logan, with Noah Swart scoring seven, Ryan Myers five, Emerson Sowers four, Coleman Leach three and Ayden St. Clair, Ashton Mason and Trevor Atkins two apiece.
Logan claimed a 35-22 win at Athens on Saturday.
After an 8-8 opening quarter, Logan took a 14-9 lead at halftime and finally broke away completely with a 12-point fourth period.
Maynard and Sawyer Magdich topped the winners with nine and eight points, respectively. Karson Harris and Sowers both netted three and Swart, Leach, Atkins and Glenny Harris all contributed two.
