LANCASTER — A couple big quarters lifted the Logan seventh-grade boys basketball team to a season-opening 49-35 basketball victory Tuesday evening at Lancaster Sherman.

Logan took command 13-7 after one quarter then, after breaking even in the second period and leading 19-13 at halftime, the youthful Chieftains outscored the home team 15-8 to forge a 34-21 edge heading into the final stanza.

Jackson Stimmel and Jack Walsh powered the winners with 16 and 10 points, respectively, with Blake Chambers netting eight, Kallen Wilson and Kaleb Harper six apiece, Brody Helferich two and Quentin Berry one.
