MARIETTA — Getting solid performances from several players, the Logan seventh-grade football team trounced host Marietta 42-12 on Wednesday evening.
In the nightcap to Wednesday’s doubleheader, Marietta beat the Logan eighth-grade boys by a 52-0 count.
Austin Weinsziehr accounted for four touchdowns, rushing for 23 yards and a TD, passing for 73 yards and two TDs, and stripped the ball from a Marietta player and returned it 50 yards for six points for the seventh-grade squad.
Kaden Morgan rushed for 100 yards and two scores and had a 2-point conversion reception. Jackson Stimmel had 51 yards receiving, catching two touchdown passes, rushed for 35 yards, kicked an extra point, had a sack and recovered a fumble, and Kallen Wilson ran for a 2-point conversion, kicked a PAT, recovered a fumble and forced two fumbles.
“The boys played well today,” praised Logan coach Keith Wilson, adding that “(Giovanni) Belcher and (Michael) Hopkins really stepped up their games defensively.”
The seventh-grade team (2-3) plays at Athens on Tuesday while the eighth-grade squad (0-5) hosts Athens on Thursday.
