ZANESVILLE — For the second time this season, the Logan Lady Chiefs had three girls break 100 in an 18-hole golf tournament.
New Philadelphia (326) ran away with Wednesday’s Tri-Valley Invitational at EagleSticks Golf Club near Zanesville while the Lady Chiefs (410) were eighth out of 11 teams.
“The place and score don’t tell the story,” stated Logan coach Rich Aldridge.
Ashley Aldridge and Lauren Johnson both had rounds of 94 and Dreena Wiseman came through with a career-best 95 for the Purple & White, with Keely Fickel scoring 127 and Anna Mulrooney 129.
“Keely Fickel and Anna Mulrooney played in their first 18-hole match,” coach Aldridge noted. “Both played well, with Keely’s score counting. Having three scores below 100 is something we have never done until this year.”
And now they’ve done it twice.
Warren (367) and Granville (367) were next in line, 41 strokes behind New Philly, with Warren taking second place on a scorecard playoff.
Sheridan (390) was fourth, followed by Gallia Academy (393), Crooksville (394), Tri-Valley (402), Logan (410), Dover (430), Lancaster Fisher Catholic (436) and John Glenn (438).
The Lady Chiefs conclude the second week of their season Friday when they take part in the Watkins Memorial Invitational at Cumberland Trail Golf Club.
