LOGAN — A Monday home win over River Valley and a Saturday victory at Athens hiked the Logan eighth-grade boys basketball team’s record to a solid 8-5.

Logan rallied for a 31-28 win at Athens on Saturday, where the Chiefs led 17-13 at halftime but had to rally from a 23-21 deficit heading into the final stanza, where Emerson Sowers hit a triple that put the Chiefs in front.

The home team got within a single possession in the final 10 seconds before Logan forced a game-clinching turnover.

Sowers and Kohen Maynard both netted 10 points for the winners, with Sawyer Magdich scoring three and Noah Swart, Ryan Myers, Ashton Mason and Trevor Atkins all adding two.

On Monday, Logan led 16-7, 26-16 and 37-16 at the breaks en route to a 44-18 triumph over River Valley.

Atkins had nine points and Jacob Konkler and Maynard had seven apiece to pace a balanced scoring attack. Sowers added five, Swart and Jack Brown four apiece, Myers three, Mason and Ayden St. Clair two apiece and Glenny Harris one.
