LOGAN — They didn't lead until the end, but that was good enough for the Logan eighth-grade boys basketball team.
The young Chiefs trailed nearly the entire game until a late triple by Kohen Maynard put them ahead in a 26-24 win over visiting Nelsonville-York Thursday night.
N-Y led 8-1, 13-7 and 19-14 at the breaks before Logan (5-4) scored 12 points in the final stanza, eight of them by Maynard in the final two minutes, with a Maynard three-ball with under a minute left putting them in front.
"Excellent defense by Sawyer Magdich, Noah Swart, Emerson Sowers, Ryan Myers, Aiden St. Clair and Jack Brown," praised Logan coach Jonathan Hughes. "Each guarded one of the two best players for Nelsonville."
Maynard finished with nine points, with Trevor Atkins netting five, Swart four, Sowers and Magdich three each and Brown two.
