LOGAN — Continuing an outstanding season, the Logan eighth-grade volleyball team defeated visiting Newark Liberty on Tuesday and Newark Heritage on Saturday to improve its record to 14-3.
Logan routed Newark Liberty 25-4, 25-7 as Chloe McCarty went 8-of-10 serving (seven aces) with two kills, Emily Hood went 7-9 serving (three aces) with three assists and Aislynn Slack served 7-7 (five aces). Kalie Cook was 6-6 serving (two aces), Rylie Woltz 6-7 (two aces), Carley Thompson was 3-4 (two aces) and Lilly Nihiser had two kills.
Saturday, the eighth-grade girls topped Newark Heritage 25-14, 25-8 as Hood was a tremendous 29-of-29 serving (13 aces) and also went 2-2 in attacks with three digs. Maggie Weaver was 6-6 serving (five aces) with three digs, Slack was 6-6 serving (three aces), McCarty had two kills and Hannah Nunley contributed eight digs.
Last week, the Lady Chiefs downed Watkins Memorial 25-9, 25-15 in a home match and dropped a 25-14, 25-21 decision at Pickerington Ridgeview.
Hood was 17-17 serving (10 aces) and had three digs and two assists against Watkins. Rylie Woltz was 7-7 serving and had two kills while McCarty 3-5 was serving (two kills) and had three kills.
At Ridgeview, Thompson was 8-8 serving (three aces) and 6-8 in attacks (two kills) while Hood was 7-7 serving (three aces) and 2-2 in attacks, Slack 4-4 serving and Nunley 4-5. Woltz was 5-7 (three kills) in attacks.
