LOGAN — Three wins and a tie in four matches in 24 hours. Not bad.
The Logan eighth-grade soccer team outscored visiting Athens 4-3 on Wednesday after winning 3-1 at Jackson on Tuesday to reach double figures in victories over the season.
And while goals were harder to come by for the seventh-grade squad, they didn’t allow any. Logan and Athens played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday after the Chiefs nipped Jackson 1-0 on Tuesday.
Emerson Sowers had a pair of hat tricks for the eighth-grade Chiefs (10-2-1) to account for six of their seven goals.
He also added an assist against Athens while Karson Harris also scored and Jordan Leavitt made eight saves. Ayden St. Clair, Ryan Myers and Leavitt were credited with playing standout games.
Mollie Landis had an assist and Leavitt made six goalie stops in the victory at Jackson, where Landis, Myers and Hunter Lee had excellent performances according to the coaching staff.
The seventh-grade team got six saves from C.J. Robers and five from Braden Harper in shutting out Athens. Bruce Smith, Kaleb Harper and Silas Crawford had fine performances.
Crawford had the only goal, with Bradyn Halley assisting, and Harper stopped six shots in Tuesday’s shutout of the junior Ironmen. Paige Magdich, Josiah Gentzel and Sadie Vaughn came through with top-notch performances.
