LOGAN — After losing by more than 40 points in the semifinals, the Logan seventh-grade boys basketball team came back to finish its season on a winning note by taking third place in last week's Logan junior high tournament.
Logan finished with a 7-9 record after beating Waverly 39-26 in Saturday's third-place game. The Chiefs dropped a 69-26 semifinal decision to Meigs earlier in the week.
Logan led Waverly 14-2 after one quarter and stayed in command 25-12 at halftime and 32-18 after three quarters.
Kohen Maynard and Trevor Atkins led the winners with 13 and 12 points, respectively, with Emerson Sowers scoring six, Sawyer Magdich three, Noah Swart and Branden Shirey two each and Ayden St. Clair one.
Atkins was named to the all-tournament team.
Meigs outscored the young Chiefs 22-6 in the opening quarter and was up big at the half and after three periods as well.
Sowers netted eight points to lead Logan. Atkins scored six, Maynard, Coleman Leach and Magdich three each, St. Clair two and Glenny Harris one.
